Mamajuana Cafe the Bronx

I went there for the first time got a groupon to check out the atmosphere planned on ordering appetizer and drinks and told this to the waitress my hubby is allergic to shellfish and tomatoes so i asked the waitress to suggest something she suggested side of grilled vegetables with some skirt steak brings out the plate and the bill... $75!!! I ordered 2 appetizers and his plate got changed $75. Spoke to the manager...i felt we got deceived he said it wasnt his problem! !! ShE told him she showed us the menu prices which she never did!! Unbelievable. ..never again! Went down the street to CABO...great atmosphere. ..manager treats us like family. Dont bother going there...CABO atmosphere is better food is cheaper drinks are better and cheaper too!

Such a nice big place with decent food but horrible service and fire that rude hostess sincerely we will never be back you have way to much competition to be so arrogant in this business

Overpriced mediocre food not to mention it's obnoxiously loud. Just recently a man fired shots into restaurant. Not a place I will ever go to again.

This place has been THE worst restaurant I have ever been to!

They sat us next to the DJ station and we couldn't even talk because the speakers were literally right next to us blasting the music.
The waitresses kept bringing the DJ drinks and since our table was so close, their hair and asses were pretty much in our table. This made our party feel extremely uncomfortable.

The server came after 23 minutes (yes, I was counting).

When we requested a different table, they pretended to not understand English, then when I spoke in Spanish they pretended to have trouble hearing me because of the loud music.

I ordered a signature appetizer that they have called "Platano Relleno" - which (I assumed) was a sweet plantain stuffed with beef since there was no description on the menu. When I asked the server if it was indeed stuffed with beef, they (again) had trouble hearing me and just said "yea yea" as if they we brushing me off. When it came out- to my surprise, it was actually stuffed with Bacalao (Cod Fish) This wouldn't have been an issue if I knew they were coming out with cod fish instead of beef. However, my husband is extremely allergic to fish and is extremely sensitive to cross contamination through silverware or plates and he quickly reacts. We weren't expecting this so it was a bit frustrating to say the least. My husband didn't want to make a big deal out of it so one of our friends just took it to go.
Since we decided to have a late dinner (it was 9:30) and they took forever with our order. By the time we were eating, they told us to please get up from our seats as they were preparing to transition from restaurant to lounge, and they needed to remove all tables and chairs. When we told them that we were not finished and they took too long with our order, they (again) pretended to have trouble listening to us and eventually told us that we can stay in our table if we purchase a hookah for $30 or we can go and finish our meal in the bar. We took a look to the bar and saw that there was absolutely no room to sit or stand, and we were not going to buy a hookah, so we decided to leave.

We asked for the check and saw the food was incredibly overpriced for their small portions and we couldn't even finish it. This place was the biggest disappointment ever!

I will give them 1 star only because I cannot give 0.5 stars which is what it deserves.

First off this place IS WAY OVER PRICED! The fee is $30 for an adult and $11.99 including unlimited food and drinks. The food and the drinks were terrible, DEFINETLY not worth $30. The staff is absolutely rude and service was terrible! When we walked in the trays were almost empty and messy. We notified a waiter and they had said they would take care of it.We took from what there was and about 20 minutes later went back to find that the trays were still empty. I had been told by the hostess that my 12 year old daughter would be charged as a child but when it came to paying they decided to charge her as an adult. Our waitress rudely told us that we were wrong and she was an adult. The manager Wendy was also rude and unprofessional . She denied having empty trays at the buffet and then claimed that it was because the buffet ended at 4 meanwhile it was still 3:20. They charged all of us as adults and seemed to be bothered by us. If I could I would give this place 0 stars!!!!!
