POSITIVE(S): Indie, foreign & future Academy Award (Oscar)-bait films play here earlier than other theaters (if they play in those theaters at all). The theater's cultured films attracts an older, more serious customer set allowing customers to avoid the loud children and teens often seen at big theater chains playing superhero/action/animated films. Parking is available directly behind the theater. The kind of films I've seen here during their early run prior to their Oscar-nominations include Spotlight, Birdman, Whiplash, The Imitation Game & The Tree of Life.

NEGATIVE(S): The bathroom is small (though clean). The food selection is very small. The box office is outside & very small and in the rare event of big lines, you will be waiting outside (hopefully not in any undesirable elements). Theater operation is more adjusted to pre-2000s systems rather than the high-tech atmosphere of many modern theaters. There is no ticket kiosk, online reservations or ATMs and they do not accept credit/debit cards (though a bank is across the street). The seats are not as good as more modern theaters.

OVERALL: If you truly love cinema beyond Hollywood tentpoles, this is the place to go. The films you often can only catch in select theaters in Manhattan play here where parking is easier. Highly recommended for any cinema lovers in the Long Island/Queens area.

A one in a kind cinema dedicated to the art of film. Small theatre that screens independent and foreign films. Wonderful atmosphere and ownership, great prices and deals. Please don't ever go away.

Great location and always runs the movies that are playing in " select theaters." Yes, could definitely use renovations. Ticket prices are very reasonable and concession has some pretty good popcorn!

I recently saw Whiplash at Malverne Cinema and boy was the movie fantastic. It was intense, smart, extremely well acted, and had me on the edge of my seat. Miles Teller and JK Simmons were fantastic in their roles. Going into the last 10 minutes of the film I was ready to rate this theater a 3/5 but the last 10 min were some of the most intense minuets of my life. For how good the movie's ending was I give the theater a 5/5. There was also some traffic in the street outside, but not too bad. The parking was great. On my way I saw a train cross in front of my car. I always get excited when i get to see trains, so I stuck around at the station for a while and watched a few more go by. Eventually I got on a train, rode it for a few stops and then came back. Unfortunately I missed my movie but there were later showings so everything turned out all right. I would definitely recommend watching trains if you haven't already, marvels of innovation. But, I do think it is time to upgrade to high speed rail. Countries like Japan, and Germany have trains that travel significantly faster than ours. We could cut down on travel times between long distances and create alternatives for air travel. Hopefully the two drive each other's prices down. Regardless I am super stoked for the future. Who knows what's next.

SAVE NET NEUTRALITY/ FUND SPACE PROGRAMS/ HIGH SPEED TRAINSSSS!/ CONSIDER NUCLEAR ENERGY/ PUT CAMERAS ON COPS
