The best vegan ice cream in the city! Love it. You can try whatever you'd like and to me its all tasty.

Real ice cream taste. Healthier ingredients. Friendly workers. Adorable place.
Contrary to what it says, this cozy vegan ice cream shop is still open for service. Phew, thank goodness for that. The ice "cream" served here is surprisingly creamier and richer than dairy ice cream! With flavors like peanut butter fudge, mint chocolate chip, and cake batter, Lula's creativity shows no bounds. Come in the fall for distinct autumn flavors like pumpkin soft serve and mulled apple cider. It'll be difficult to decide which flavor to have, but the staff will suggest customers to sample the flavors with real metal spoons! Plus, the paper cups and take-home spoons here are all biodegradable. The environment and your taste buds will thank you for your purchase.

Nearly a year ago I started phasing dairy out of my diet. I try not to be fanatical about foods, but it's rare these days that I eat a piece of cheese or have regular butter. The only thing I miss really is the ice cream - that was true until I found some AMAZING coconut based ice creams and then I discovered Lula's Sweet Apothecary. For anyone doubting vegan ice cream, I dare you to taste the Peanut Butter or Cake Batter and tell me you're missing Mr. Softee. Not only is this place serving rich and creamy vegan ice cream, but it's retro-adorable. A must try!
I would go as far as saying Lula's is my favorite ice cream in New York, and I'm not just saying that because I don't eat dairy any more. I have fond frozen custard memories from lactose-laden days of yore. Perhaps it's the incredibly creamy texture. Perhaps it's the comforting, classic, impeccably executed flavors. Perhaps it's the fact that I don't get a stomach ache after a satisfying (not gluttonous) serving. Whatever the reason, this ice cream takes the cake (topped with Lula's ice cream, of course) and more than holds it's own against it's dairy competitors.
