Great place for drinks, and the second best place for Pizza in NYC (But when you drink enough, it can easily climbed to first place).
Do not look for fancy people and expensive Beer, you will find a friendly owner and a smiling bartender, and for me, that all i need for a Friday night.
And do not miss the Pizza!

A quiet and cozy place to hang out and grab a quality beer. Try the Chimay, one of their beers on tap. Others among their selection include a variety of foreign beers. The windowed storefront also allows for some partial people watching on the street. A good find, especially among the row of more bustling bars.

Luca Bar is a nice place to hang out and drink Beer or Wine if you are in East Village and have exhausted all the other more popular options.... It is not a bad spot but there is nothing to rave about. Service is good and fast. We got a pitcher of sangria for a great price (1L for $25) but the sangria is bland and I don't see any fruit.
We managed to got a table in the back for 6 people without any wait on a Saturday night so that saved us the wait, the leg work and the energy. The bad thing is there is only beer and wine. If you want liquor, you need to go somewhere else.
