Lorraine's House of Styles

I have tried a number of different barbershops/salons in Hoboken and Lorraine's seems to be pretty good! They really take care of their clients here.

I wish I could give them no stars! I absolutely hated every moment of my experience here.

I am an African American with relaxed hair. At the time, I had about half an inch of natural hair at my roots. I wanted a trim, but decided to get a wash and set while I was there.

First, my hair came out extremely tangled after the wash. My stylist made NO attempt to detangle my hair while it was hair. After, she left me to attend to another client and my hair started drying. Then, she took a paddle brush to my hair to "detangle" it. I could hear it ripping off! I saw huge chunks of my hair in my brush. Despite this, she kept trying to detangle with that brush until I asked her to use something else.

Then, I asked for a roller set. She flipped the rollers OUTWARD, leaving an unnatural kink on my hair. There were also noticeable dents from the pins. She put the rollers in while my hair was dry-ish, so it came out EXTREMELY frizzy. It felt and looked dry and brittle! Absolutely awful!

Then, finally I asked for the trim. I've seen many reviews saying they were good at trims and cuts so I thought they couldn't possibly mess up here, right? WRONG! I asked for half an inch off, and she cut two and a half! Not only that, it was choppy and VERY uneven. And of course, she cccut so much that I had no choice but to wait for it to grow out before going elsewhere to get it repaired.

I was completely disgusted! Not a single aspect of my time here was satisfactory. Save yourself and go elsewhere!

Are you f-ing kidding me? The woman in charge, Lorraine was impolite and ruthless. I felt scammed at the check out, overpriced; the old bait and switch. I was quoted one price over the phone and paid more than 4 times as much by the end of it all because they kept telling me I need THIS and I need THAT, I honestly felt bullied and robbed.
I was also charged for 2 treatments when I only had one. I hope someone shuts this place down. Scammers!!!

I've been going to Aileen at Lorraine's for about 6 months now and have never had a better stylist for highlights! She really listens to what the client wants and gives very good advice on what will look best. She also helped me even out my old haircut which was in need of serious help after several different stylists and many long layer cuts. Everyone at the salon is also super friendly and fun! I would highly recommend!!

This is my favorite salon, by far. Every other salon/barbershop I've ever been to has never been able to have me walk out their doors with that "It's exactly what I wanted!" feeling. Lorraine's does, effortlessly. Great workers, very professional, but still a very fun atmosphere. Highly Recommended.
