Our first visit to New York was great. Our stay at the Loralei, made it a vacation that we will never forget.
First, the house is amazing. Very clean and well kept. Before even showing up, Robert was in contact with me and even called the day of arrival to see how we were doing in the traffic on the way. Upon arrival, we were so very thankful that they have a private driveway to park in. VERY Important detail when driving to New York to stay is PARKING! Robert met us at the door and put us in the Grammercy Suite which was very nice. He even helped take our things upstairs.
Then, if this were not enough, there was a delicious spread every morning of fruits, breads, jams, cheeses, juice, milk, tea, everything was so nice. And every morning, the options offered were different. But what really made this such an exceptional experience was the company.
Every morning, without fail, Robert came down to greet us during breakfast and asked about our experiences from the previous day and what plans we had for the next day. Not just friendly chatter, Robert is so enthusiastic about New York, he had brochures, and advice for many of out adventures. Sharing his experiences and little tips to help us get around. So very easy to talk to.
Now, the location; in a very diverse little neighborhood and only 2 or 3 blocks from a subway station. Weather early in the morning or late into the evening, we felt very safe walking to and from the subway. The best part about where this station is located is that it is in a little plaza which houses the best little deli (simply named Plaza Gourmet Deli) that was open late every night we came back "home" (and it really did feel like home every night). We would stop in for a great sub and delicious desserts. There is a really good Gyro place there too, but we came home too late to eat there many nights.
Robert, being the host that seems to have no limits, would have a bucket of ice waiting for me knowing how much I loved cold drinks when we got home. so welcoming and just truly unbelievable.
On our final day there, Robert warned us about the traffic trying to get out of the city and so we were able to beat the traffic. Thanks to him as well, he prepared a "to-go" bag for us since we would be leaving before breakfast along with a nice note.
I cannot say enough how welcoming and hospitable Robert is. He made our stay into a vacation experience. I still get to enjoy my tea with my Loralei mug I purchased from him. I love it! I really think others would benefit if he were to write a book about being an amazing host and caretaker. The Loralei has drawn us in and we did not want to leave. We will be back for our next trip to NY!
