Now the offices of the Prospect Park Alliance and the NYC Parks Brooklyn Borough Commissioner, it was built as a private summer residence with views all the way down to NY Harbor before any Park Slope brownstone was built. Before the Brooklyn Bridge was built, Brooklyn was quite rural. Now during office hours (9-5 Mon.-Fri.) you can see the lobby and ask to see the 2nd floor rotunda. Designed by Alexander Jackson Davis, you can take a tour of Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, NY that he also designed.

Awesome this 1857, Litchfield Villa...past times, when Brooklyn was mostly a huge farmland. I liked so much this historic building with its porch columns decorated with corn cobs and wheat stalks. Also this gorgeous building is considered a stellar example of 19th century romantic Italian architecture. Definitely a spot gem.""
