林則徐-世界禁毒先驅，中國的民族英雄，中國清朝福州籍的著名禁毒官員。1997年，香港回歸祖國同一年，為提倡反毒品，由美國林則徐基金會籌資在東百老匯大街西端的且林廣場上樹立起西方世界第一座林則徐的銅像。1999年5月18日，該廣場又被紐約市政府命名為「林則徐廣場」。
