First the food here was good. We had steaks and burgers. The steaks you actually pick them out and the gentleman behind the counter cooks it to your specifications and the waiter brings them over. Good experience, little overpriced but good.

2 stars because there cookies are good. We have bought a few times in the past...
However, the Indian guy who stands there is racist to indian people(yes, his own!). Totally unacceptable service from a place like this. Manager please note.

Fantastic croissants, crêpes and coffee. Grocery is interesting but steep. Beaubourg is good as is the charcuterie.

Review of Le Bar:
We were in need of something warming and hearty struggling late at night with jet lag. We had walked through Le District during the day and wanted to come back to dine. Late at night with Le Bar still open and inviting we decided to dine here. The decor is on point, dark and chic. I always like eating at the bar as it is more interactive and exciting. We ordered 2 different steaks from the menu and some french wines. The first wine was off but I quickly pointed that out to the waiter and he immediately poured from a new bottle. The steaks were excellent, well cooked but could have done with a little less flame grill as we witnessed the chef being over zealous with the flame. The accompanying salad was just right and frites a nice touch. Later we learned you can actually choose any cut of meat from the butcher and have them cook it with the same sides for just $12 more plus weight of the meat. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The only negative was that service was a little slow at the start and not very attentive but one of the owners/senior managers quickly picked up on this.

The groceries, fruits and produce are grossly over-priced. The staff, uneducated on pricing, assuming and lazy and the black man, a supervisor at the checkout counter, extremely rude and refusing to take responsibility for their actions.
I always go to Best Market, Greenwich, or Wholefoods in Chamber Street. However, I have shopped at Le District a few times. This evening on June 24, at around 7.50pm, I went in wanting sweet potatoes. There were two kinds, but no displayed pricing. So I took one of each to the counter and a girl at checkout told me 99cents/lb. I asked which was 99cents, she said both were the same.
At checkout, I was charged $1.99/lb. That's double the price quoted. When I queried, the burly-sized black man who looks too arrogant to be in customer service, wasted so much time trying to dish out bull and that he could not do anything.
I wasn't at all impressed with how much my time have been wasted because Le District staff is incompetent and uncaring. I decided to put back the potatoes and get my money back. I was shocked when he became personal and asked if I wanted him to call security. That was when I emptied the potatoes from the plastic bag and when a couple rolled on the floor I picked them up to put back. He was being absurb, I stood up to him and asked him to go ahead, and suddenly he realised I cannot be bullied nor intimidated. It was a shocking and very disappointing experience.
