First of all, I approach all internet reviews with a healthy dose of skepticism. Any company could just have someone (or themselves) write bogus reviews for public consumption, and I'm leery of what I read online most times. So, just so you know where I'm coming from.
That said, I live in Whitestone, and my SUV was rear-ended on the Northern State Parkway in September (2010). The other person's insurance company rightly took the responsibility for the insurance claims. They also had their list of body shops that they apparently had worked with in the past. None of the shops listed were in Whitestone, however. For convenience reasons and for just wanting to keep business local, I investigated my alternatives.
Larry's happened to be the first (and ultimately, the only) local shop I called. I could walk to their shop if I had to, so that helped. From the moment I had my first conversation with them, I knew they were going to be a professional shop. The person giving me info was "Louie", who just happened to be an ex-insurance adjuster. He calmly answered all my questions with no rush, and explained that he spoke the language of adjusters and knew how to deal with them, having been one, himself. Very thorough presentation in that phone call.
I took the SUV in, and they pretty much handled the rest, including helping to take care of getting the Enterprise Rent-A-Car I was going to use (paid for by the insurance company). They kept me fully apprised throughout the repair process, including the slight delays waiting on OEM parts. When the unavoidable parts delay occurred, THEY called the insurance company to get an extension on my rental. Nice.
The car came back looking like nothing ever happened to it --and even a little better since I needed a new bumper. Paint job was very well matched to my 8-year old original paint. Nice job by the guys in the shop.
So, while I hope to never have to use the services of Larry's again, I would certainly not hesitate to do so. I'm very happy with the experience and would heartily recommend them to others.
