I have lived my whole life around the corner of La Taza de Oro. The food continues to be quite good, after a period where it really was not up to par. So today, I went for takeout. Not the usual middday crowd. The server overcharged my for the beef tongue, which was clearly marked $9.00, but he wrote $9.50. And then, he added my roasted ham, which was another $9.50 and his total was $20!!!! Luckily Elvira, the ogre cashier, saw it. I truly believe the attendant was cheating on purpose. So, beware of the bill, check it twice. The two stars are for service, not the food.

I went to this place for lunch and I enjoyed it. The atmosphere was very vintage (is the only way to describe it) it was like a blast from the Puerto Rican past. This place is more of a diner type place more than it is a restaurant. My order was great. I received it in a timely fashion and my server was great. Loved her accent.

Latin. This place had great reviews on yelp, but I was disappointed. I don't know if we ordered the wrong things. The food was mediocre, and the portions were largish, not ginormous as the reviews indicated (hunk of meat + sides). The prices were $8 per dish. I had the chicken cutlet and my friend had the fried fish. For sides, we got salad (no dressing apparently) and (pretty good) fries. I don't think there was a single thing for vegetarians. The place was fairly crowded though, so even if I was unimpressed, others seem to be.
