La Panetière

If it is not 5 star it should be. It is one of the better restaurants in Westchester. The braised short ribs over pasta was just awesome and done well. My wife had the breast of duck. While I am not a duck person, this is one of the better ducks I have tried. The wheat berries gives the taste a little bit of sweetness.
We had the smoked brook trout with key lime cream as an appetizer. I highly recommend it. The service was very good as well. Our waiter was friendly and personable. When I ordered a Riesling, he mentioned that it was not sweet and suggested something else that was. I was happy with his suggestion.

I have been here a few times as I live down the street. It's in a residential area of Rye and not far from the beach. I find the downstairs a little cramped and overwhelming and prefer the upstairs dining room which has plenty of glass and resembles a greenhouse. The food is delicious and the service is great. Of course great french wines. They do have tables that seem to seat 2-4 comfortably and a few that will seat a few more. It's a great splurge spot and one of the best restaurants in Westchester. Zagat agrees as they are always in the top couple with a food rating of 28.

Excellent modern update of classic French cuisine. Beautiful decor, great for lunch and dinner.
Service is outstanding.

We had a change of plans on Christmas which necessitated our taking our family of 12 people out to eat. We chose La Panetiere having been there before and having enjoyed the cuisine. On Christmas, the service was once again impeccable. We had one vegetarian and one person in need of a gluten-free meal and two with sea food allergies and all were smoothly accommodated. The upstairs private room made for a warm and intimate experience for 12 people and we especially enjoyed the large round table which permits a group to interact. And the food---simply wonderful, scallops, liver pate, venison etc. etc. (check their menu), artfully arranged, arriving at the table of 12 in a timely fashion for all. Thank you!!!

Attentive service (no shortage of rolls and a great selection of breads before our meal arrived). The wine steward suggested a great wine at a lower price than the one we initially selected. Our server offered very helpful suggestions. All courses were delicious and the presentation was excellent. We will definitely return for special occasions (e.g. birthdays, anniversaries and graduations).
