La Isla Cuchifrito

Going to a play nearby and searched for any Puerto Rican restaurant and came across it. Loved the food. Service is fast considering how busy it gets. Only negative is a wait for either take out or seating when the person in front of you is ordering for an army. There are just 6 stools. But all cuchifrito joints are like that. The stuffed potato/papa rellena are Godzilla size huge. The morcilla/blood pudding is very tasty as well as the alcapurria/yuca stuffed with beef. Highly recommended.

Ok they get a 5 star rating simply for being open 24 hours, 365 days a year.

Their rotisserie chicken is delicious and practically falls off the bone. The mojo dip for tostones is amazing and probably the best in the immediate area.

As for their cuchifritos aka fried Caribbean delicacies, they're worth all the saturated, oil dripping, fatty carb delight in your mouth.

This is a spot that's popular with physicians and workers from nextdoor Lincoln Hospital and a popular spot for folks on their way home after a night of partying and drinking.

The ladies who work here are super sweet and although the wait can be a bit I make sure to tip these women well because they are working non stop when their shifts begin. This place is THAT busy. Then again it is a small spot that seats only about 10 folks at the counter but the rest are folks getting take out.
