This is a good spot if you are a local. I came here for the lunch special and got a chicken and rice plate for $6. This lasted me for two meals and I was surprised because I usually eat a lot. The plate came with beans and fried plantains which was a plus.
The lunch crowd was a ton of locals who had great looking plated. To be honest I wanted a different meat but had a communication barrier- my problem not theirs.

The wait staff is continuously rude and ignore customers waiting for take out. An order of rice, beans and plaintains can run anywhere from $3.00 to $4.50, depending on who waits on you. Last night a customer and I were waiting and watching as the waitresses laughed and ignored us for 5 minutes. I was asked if for my order when the guy in front of me was clearly first. When I indicated that he was next we were both ignored for several minutes. I asked if we could get our orders and was chided that I was asked for my order but that I declined so they busied themselves with chatter and moving the same plates back and forth. Finally, the guy in front of my was waited on. When he placed his order in spanish, the waitress let out a gasp. Clearly they thought he was not.
It was unbelievable.

The food is good and decent prices, but the women that work there can be rude. They ignore the women In my family when they go in person to order food. They pay attention more to the other older men that tip and flirt with them. We usually order by phone now but I have to show up at times Bc they forget things like line slices for my chicken

A flood of authentic and delicious sights and sounds. Delightful clientele and staff. Pollo guisado gets high marks. Well-priced and warm spot to duck in off the street on a cold day!

Food is decent and well priced. Their Cuban sandwiches are some of the best in the city, imho
