EXCELLENT Indian restaurant. It's BYOB, fyi.
Order as much garlic naan as you can; you won't be disappointed. The lamb or mixed tandoori is fantastic. Meats are tender and flavorful. The spices and sauces are great, and the wait-staff explain them well. The atmosphere is intimate and generally hushed, so it is easy to have a relaxing evening with great food and conversation at Kismat.
We have ordered-in multiple times as well, and though still excellent, it's not quite as good as being at the restaurant itself (the naan particularly suffers when not served hot and fresh). But such is always the case with food ordered to-go.

This was our first time ordering from Kismat and unfortunately the last. The chicken Tikka Masala was almost flavorless. I'm not sure what they did wrong with that but it was very earthy tasting. My husband said the same about his order as well. I read all of the reviews on Grub Hub and on here and see a lot of similar reviews about them lacking flavor. Too bad for us people in Inwood because we don't have other options for Indian.

Great Indian food, for the neighborhood. My wife and I sort of stumbled onto this place when walking up to Fort Tryon one day. It's comparable to the stuff downtown around 4th street in the village. Feels a little pricey sometimes, but not any more than other Indian restaurants really. It's a great place to order from on Grubhub and really hits the spot.

In the 1990s, I used to order from Kismat when it was located on Broadway and 190th Street. I was always so happy with my food. The taste was always good and the portions were great as well. Then I moved to Brooklyn for 12 years, and made my way back up to Inwood 13 years ago. I was so pleased to rediscover Kismat again in their Fort Washington location and to find that the food quality is just as good and tasty as it always was! Kismat is my go-to place for Indian food in the neighborhood. Thank you for being so consistent!
