Taste-tastic southeast asian eatery! We had the Laksa curry noodle soup with clams and fish balls which had a not-too-spicy coconut broth, thick vermicelli noodles, and generously seasoned with fish sauce. The SPAM fried rice was also on the return and was super tasty with lots of green onion and big chunks of seared SPAM. The cocktails were also good, and festive . . . very festive. Can't wait to try the other menu items!
Oh yeah, must say, good soundtrack. Hey Mr. DJ.

New owner rocks. Amazing soundtrack playing. Great food, and our server Karissa was bubbly, cute, and all around great ;) definitely made me feel alive after just arriving to Bushwick from a 14 hour Amtrak ride.

Good, interesting menu with a nice mix of authentic ethnic convention and contemporary flare. Props to the chef. My friend and I ordered a ton of items from the menu, including several of the more adventurous, unpopular items, like the chicken hearts. The chef admired our openness of mind and sent over a couple more items that we hadn't tried, on the house.
It's just too bad they have such poor service. The wait staff is unprofessional and loud, and they behave as if their gossip and socializing take precedence over their customers. We don't care that you "can't find [your] phone!" And we definitely don't want to witness a scene behind the counter about it. It's true they're dealing with a young, hip demographic, but that's no excuse for a poor work ethic and unprofessional appearance.

I went it for the very first time on July 2, 2015 (I live nearby). This Chinese restaurant has had a great number of names and a great turn-over of owners because it is located in an area where parking is a problem.
But that is not why I was unsatisfied. First of all, there were two menus with different prices. BOTH menus were is Chinese and the English description of the items was all too brief. I ordered the Beef with Noodles and thought "OK, they can't mess noodles up, right?" WRONG! They provided me with cold, hard noodles. Was I to eat this cold and hard? Did they want me to boil the noodles when I got home, and if so, why go for take out if I have to cook the meal? The beef and vegetables were oozing with lard fat (I tasted it!) in order to thicken the sauce. It was nauseating!
But even before I ordered, I can tell you that my experience was negative in so far as placing my order. When I walked in, the lady at the counter was speaking intently in Chinese with a customer. She barely acknowledged that I was there and that I had already selected an item and was waiting by the entrance, next to the cash register so obviously either waiting to be seated or going to place an order to take out.
Well, ten minutes later she finally stopped talking with the customer long enough to give me a cursory half smile and ask what it is that I wanted.
They are apparently from Shanghai, so avoid this place unless you speak Wu Chinese abd you can impress them, because you won't be treated right (forget Cantonese, forget Mandarin - they don't understand it unless they actually learned it in school).

Such a cool and inventive place. The menu is broken down into traditional and new, but every dish is a bit different than typical Chinese Food. There are a bunch of specials off the menu too. The staff is a bit oddball, sticking with the theme, but very professional with big orders and describing all the dishes. Order a ton of dishes to try everything. The Chinese broccoli, more of a bok choy, was very flavorful and crispy. The mackerel was very unique, and a tasty little snack with delicious sauce, even with the eyes looking at you. The chicken wings were good, especially the crispy ones which had a great texture, but could have used a bit more flamboyant flavors, especially the spicy ones. The potato croquettes were like crispy hash browns with a gooey inside and tangy sauce. The tofu chili cheese fries were the best of the night and very creative with a good mix of fries, cheese, and tofu. A bit hard to eat with chopsticks but worth it. The green chili curry was good, but could have had way more flavor and spice. It was not like a Thai curry and by comparison a bit bland. The bbq salad special was also great with well seasoned slaw and deliciously marinated and tender pork. Awesome cocktails as well and very good Japanese beer selections like the Asahi dunkel. A bit pricey, but worth it for the awesome food.
