Friday, January 15th, 2016 I have visited Judy Stein for the first time as part of our ongoing family therapy.
Therapy is meant to be a guided learning experience, during which therapists help patients to find their own answers and feel better about themselves and their lives. A patient should never feel intimidated or threatened by a therapist’s behavior. I was...
Judy Stein’s behavior was unprofessional, unethical, improper. Our therapy session was a great example of not appropriate behavior for a therapist. Judy did not listen or hear us. She offered us a seat on a very soft couch which made us sit almost on the floor level and Judy was sitting on a high chair with her feet in our face on another chair. She was in a very comfortable position for a person who sits all day, but her position was very uncomfortable for me. The room had a smell of old socks and old carpet. She would not let me speak; she would bring her finger up in the air and say: “we do not interrupt”. But we didn’t, we were having a conversation, or at least we were hoping to have one.
I am an adult with 2 children: one – currently in Grad School and another one is 13 y.o. rebel girl who is the reason for our family therapy. I expected an adult conversation; I did not expect that a therapist would treat me like a school girl. Judy was yelling, pointing fingers, not letting me speak, and giving advice that definitely should not be the outcome of the therapy. We came there to build piece in our home not start a war!
It is only reasonable to expect that a provider of service will act professionally.
I want to prevent the therapist from hurting others. And I want to stop other patients from making a mistake by scheduling a session with Judy Stein.
I will report her misconduct to Licensing Board and Professional Association as well. Beware!
