I selected Dr. Jones based on her qualifications; anyone reading her resume can see she is a well educated and highly qualified physician with the accolades that accompany such qualifications. As expected, Dr. Jones was knowledgeable, thorough and comprehensive in her review of my prior medical records, the physical exam and her explanation of various concerns. The only disappointment was her bedside manner as Dr. Jones is rather curt and condescending. I got the impression that she almost struggles to remember ‘common’ courtesy, e.g. catching herself half step into making her exit and then turning to ask if I had any questions; I recall thinking it seemed an awkward and practiced action and not one that occurred naturally. Intellectuals, including doctors who spend years in school, often tend not to be particularly personable however, at the end of the day, practicing medicine is in large part a service industry and patients’ satisfaction, comfort and contentment need to be a priority. Dr. Jones would do well to work on her bedside manner, becoming more personable in speaking with lay persons, and implementing the congeniality which is necessary for any professional working with patients/clients/customers.
Overall, I will continue with Dr. Jones as my physician and I do recommend her as an adept and knowledgeable physician; just wear your thicker skin on appointment day.
