This elegant carousel sits between the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges alongside of the East River. It is an original piece from Idora Park in Ohio. It was made in 1922 during the prime time of the American Carousel's. It was eventually purchased and restored; and blessed our beautiful city in 2011. The vintage look and feel of this carousel is what makes it unique in my opinion. You are not riding cheap plastic horses as we are used to seeing in carnivals and fairs. You are riding an original wood carvings (restored of course). I also appreciate the glass structure that surrounds this masterpiece to preserve it's beauty; especially when the hard rain or snow storms come in.
It is open year round. Tickets are $2 a ride for people ages 4 and up. Ages 3 and under or (under 42" tall) ride for free if accompanied by a paying adult. They do offer special group packages as well.
If you have kids, this is definitely something you need to bring them to see and do. If you don't have kids, remember that you are never too old to ride a merry-go-round!

Stunning. I do wish they lowered the sound of the drums on the actual carousel but there is no place so picturesque. Super friendly staff too.
