Do you know how it is when you meet someone who is passionate about their work or profession? They not only know their own segment or area they work in, they know the larger all encompassing area too. We’ve always been told to try to work at something we love to do and we’ll be successful. It takes passion in order to excel at something we do. That is the case with Kevin Bennett of Integral Audio. He’s passionate about car audio.

Kevin, knows his stuff. Spend a little bit of time with him online or on the phone and you’ll see and hear what a knowledgable person in this field should sound like. His advice get’s to the point quickly and clearly without any of the BS so often given by most car audio providers. He’s passionate about his company’s products in their area of car audio product offerings. But with Kevin, he knows so much more. He gets what it takes to provide not only help and expertise with his products, he knows the greater car audio field of products inside and out too. He knows what’s happening technically in the cars he develops products for. The best part with Kevin, is he’s willing to share that knowledge with others.

What I find amazing is the amount of technical knowledge needed to not only design say a subwoofer package, but the work being done to design and fit products to an entire car audio system. Anyone can throw together a subwoofer driver and put it in a box and stuff it in a trunk. It is entirely different to engineer a cabinet, structure and driver to install in a vehicle with exacting dimensions that is designed for each individual car model. That’s not the end of it though. It also has to be matched to the rest of the car’s OEM audio system or after market system too. That includes interior digital processing for in-vehicle frequency response. It gets very technical very quickly. These are parts of the process that most folks know nothing about.

These are some of the areas were Kevin and Integral Audio is pioneering product offerings. It is a major commitment and it takes a lot of expertise and passion in order to go down this path. He’s pioneering new techniques to measuring and mechanical methods to engineering products for each vehicle he produces components for. Techniques that a lot of companies either haven’t thought of or were not willing to invest in.

We are lucky that Kevin loves what he does. Otherwise we wouldn’t have some of these wonderful product offerings. He has a pretty good vision of the industry and the path of new or newer technical and mechanical methods to engineering products. Kevin knows what’s important and what is not. Kevin doesn’t subscribe to “throwing greater amounts of money away" to get a superior car audio system. His advice gets the best system assembled without spending more than is necessary.

It doesn’t take a lot of money to get real life performance improvement as the end result. It just takes real knowledge and expertise in this field to get those results. I can whole heartily give Kevin my thanks and am grateful for his advice in helping me design car audio systems for BMWs, including my own. Thanks Kevin.

I’ve known Kevin Bennett, i.e. Integral Audio since April 2010 as I volunteered my 2008 MINI Cooper to be a test vehicle for the complete Sound Stage and Subwoofer. To start, it is now 6 years later and it’s hard to put in words just how professional, detail oriented and supportive of the customer experience Kevin is. On Kevin’s insistence, my MINI has seen the prototype and at least 2 minor enhancements in the last 6 years. The sound experience from the prototype days was such an improvement over stock that despite Kevin’s request to upgrade me to the newest version, I resisted twice. That’s how happy I was with the sound. This past winter, the amplifier developed a fan issue so Kevin had me come into his shop in Brooklyn to have a look. What was waiting for me was an Integral Audio box with the complete upgraded Soundstage. Together, we did the complete install – new tweeters, mid-range and woofers along with the newly designed crossovers and an upgraded amplifier. This type of installation is not my thing, but Kevin wanted my input on the installation instructions – if I could get through it, anyone can! Together we gutted the car (all seats, panels, etc.) and I took care of assembling the crossovers and the mid-range and woofers for the doors. I found the instructions to be clear and concise and anyone with some understanding of car audio will find this install to be quite easy. Wiring is so clearly marked that I do believe my fifth grade son could help out!

The sound quality of this system is outrageously good. Vocals are crisp, the mid-ranges carry the load and tweeters, woofers and subwoofers fill the interior in such a balanced way that I find myself shaking my head when I can actually hear individual back-up singers in a song I’ve known forever but until now had not heard this kind of clarity. The bass in this system is not boomy or muddy at all and high volume not only never hurts your ears, but with the windows down, fully drowns out road noise. Having spent quite a bit of time with Kevin over the years, his sense of detail is off the charts so the fact that this system performs as well as it does is no surprise to me. Nearly equal to his sense of detail is his customer service. I have had several other MINI owners tell me that if they had questions, Kevin would always respond quickly and solve the issue.

Kevin shared with me during our recent install that he is soon releasing a complete system for the 3-series BMW. Sadly, he learned as he was designing it that someone had counterfeited his logo and put out some real garbage under his banner. This has not stopped him and he is moving forward on completing the project. So if you’ve heard anything negative about Integral Audio, I assure you it was some other low-life’s stuff branded as Integral Audio and not Kevin’s. I own a 2015 MINI s coupe, R58. it had the so called upgraded audio, Harmon Kardon 10 speaker system. the sound was anemic and dreadful. I had previously owned a bmw 318 ti for 20 years and gone through several high end systems, so living with unacceptable sound was just not an option. I spend about 2+ hours a day in the car so having premium sound is an absolute must. in searching for better sound, I came across Integral Audio and Kevin Bennett. Boy am I glad I did. Kevin is everything that most audio stores are not. He is kind, caring, gracious, professional, and very patient. He knows this equipment inside out. We exchanged numerous emails and he answered all of my detailed questions. I then bought the system with the subwoofer. Kevin hooked me up with a local installer. I am getting too long in the tooth to be doing that sort of thing now, although the system does come with easy to understand, and detailed, installation instructions. This system has to be heard to be believed. Not only is it power personified, but the reproduction of sonic detail at low levels is amazing and I am hearing with clarity details revealed in music that I have never heard before. After living with the default initial settings, Kevin was there every step of the way to help me fine tune and adjust the settings to get an absolutely awesome sound field in my car. I cannot truly describe how happy I am with the IA system as well as the my entire experience with Kevin. Is it more expensive than some other systems? Yes. Is the system worth it? Absolutely yes! One thing is certain, I will NEVER again own another bmw or mini without getting an IA system installed. If the sound quality of the music you listen to in your car matters to you, then look no further than Kevin and IA.
