I have been to Il Poeta many, many times after discovering them on a whim over 3 years ago and each and every experience has been superb.
This quaint and cozy family-owned restaurant represents Northern Italian cuisine at its freshest, most organic way possible. Their dishes are familiar but innovatively delicious (hint: love the fresh mozzarella, tomato and watermelon appetizer). When you sit down, prepare yourself for a delicious appetizer of lentils in olive oil with bread to nibble on while you graze their menu and listen to their specials. I have sampled a handful of different dishes, even repeated on a few faves --and never come away disappointed. Each plate not only looks palatable, the taste is truly authentic and satiating. As you eat you are thinking, "Wow, this is REALLY just amazing" and you feel like Mom is taking care of you. It's just a great Italian meal for your belly.
The ambiance is nice. I enjoy every meal when I'm there. They are attentive and so far I will continue returning as I always leave extremely happy. I have dined at bigger places with higher price points and larger reputations and followings and walked away feeling like I missed something. Not the case here. You won't hear 'hype' about it, you'll find it on your own and return often without fanfare.
Bravissimo to the owner, his chef and attentive wait-staff! Please never change!
