Reviews to Ian Mapes, DDS (Williamsburg Smile Design)
Dr. Mapes filled three cavities for me that had to be re-filled because of very shoddy work. After getting a second opinion, I found out that the misshapen and painful fillings he did were not even sealed properly!! All of the work I had done at Dr. Mapes's had to be re-done, and the teeth reconstructed. The cleaning I had at this office was the most painful one I've ever experienced.
Dr. Mapes offers a whitening toothbrush for those patients who write a good review for him while checking out.
Please save yourself time, money, and pain, and choose a different dentist.

I came in for a consultation for two cavities and to have them look at my 20-month old son's teeth. Dr. Mapes was prepared already to fill the teeth and was able to complete both of the fillings in under 20 minutes while my son napped. My son woke up and the doctor and Jasmine spent another 20 minutes just making him comfortable, playing with him and talking with him. Dr. Mapes isn't a pediatric dentist, but I'll continue to take my son and my twins on the way for their dental care. I recommend this place to everyone in Brooklyn!

I was the most unruly patient possible after having a bad experience at a dentist in the past! Dr Mapes made me feel comfortable and safe and even picked out a TV show for me to watch! I heart Mapes!

I could not recommend Smile Design in Williamsburg more highly! Dr. Mapes is a friendly, considerate dentist that really takes time in the room with you. Great staff and a "boutique" look. This is the place to go for dentistry in Brooklyn! (Or Manhattan for that matter.)

Where to start with Williamsburg Smile Design...this is the W [insert your favorite boutique hotel experience] of dental offices. I shouldn't be surprised since WSD is in heart of hipdom and persnickety standards. But, I was...so much so I've joined Google+ and I'm here, where I've never been before since here is their preferred review site.
To get to it, the people rock -- Dr. Mapes, Bianca, the front desk folks -- know their stuff inside/out. They are not overselling nor underselling. They are servicing in the proper medical sense of the term. Precise, helpful and comforting. WSD is a super professional, thorough, and cool environ starting with its people.
Still more, experience a modern lifestyle design dental studio at its best - think the coolest, cleanest fotog studio loft you've ever been to. Add good soundtrack piping thru at the right volume (Patty Smith, Joan Jett, Billy Idol, Flock of Seagulls, etc), open yet private examination rooms provide a collective feel, and latest tech gadgets and systems.
WSD process is both seamless and eye opening (I learned stuff). There's a monitor overhead to view your X-rays while Bianca walks you thru them in detail; Bianca takes pics of your mouth, delivers a killer cleaning, takes extra time to show you how to properly brush and floss in a mirror and, before you know it, a friendly youthful yet authoritative Dr. Mapes pops in with iPad in hand, to review those pics and give you a final once over with recommends that definitely aired on the side of moderate vs 'you need a root canal' today.
WSD offers member type programs and special programs -- if you see this service on Living Social again like I did -- RUN don't walk for your cleaning. You'll leave listing them as "My Dentist" in your cell, and vowing to get all your dental needs met here as soon as possible.
Did I say I liked my experience at WSD a lot?
Cheers, Pcm
