Reviews to Housing Works Thrift Shops
Staff are very nice. They are honest about any damage to furniture and are not pushy. They carry quality vintage furniture.

We bought a beautiful Tiffany-style reproduction lamp here that was in perfect shape. Dogs are welcome in the store and this is our dog's favorite shop outside of American Apparel. They concentrate more on apparel than some of the similar shops in the area like Good Olde Things.

While the clothing donations to Housing Works Thrifts are all sent to a single location for pricing and redistribution the stores' books, housewares and furniture donations tend to come from locals emptying their closets and refreshing their decor. While the quantity of quality clothing is now split among a lot of locations, the latter categories are where regulars can really score great bargains. That being said it does pay to check out the racks -- a couple of months ago I picked up a full length, soft black leather trench for 25 bucks. Each HW thrift develops its own niche that reflects its neighborhood. After a few bumpy years, the UWS location on Columbus is "back in business" with its ecclectic mix in housewares, carefully edited book seelction and quickly rotating furniture stock.
