@Capara. I am sorry for your bad experience. While there are some bad apples in any residence, or any neighborhood, like Avenue D and 9th street, there are a lot of good people who would be dead or out on the street without Housing Works.

Housing Works is a healing community of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Our mission is to end the dual crises of homelessness and AIDS through relentless advocacy, the provision of lifesaving services, and entrepreneurial
businesses that sustain our efforts

This place is close to my apartment and every day/night it is surrounded by loud, unemployed, professional victims. Ex junkie aids victims get to shack up in this state of the art building at the cost of taxpayers and charitable donations. Every night there's drama. The other night, I watched one of the crackhead neighbors break all the windows outside which were magically repaired by the morning, probably at the expense of taxpayers. It's amazing these "homeless" people can't afford to support themselves but they can afford cigarettes at $12 a pack.
