Extremely lousy customer service, very unresponsive to booking emails. Why can't I speak with a live human to confirm and ask questions about my booking? Had me fill out application forms with all my private info and then goes dark on me when I asked about why they switched my dates and rooms that I asked for.
Extremely shady operation, one that I would not be comfortable staying at even for a short stay if they treat customers so terribly even before they arrive. If you do end up booking, make sure you monitor your credit card charges very carefully and report them to authorities if they tack on unexpected charges.

I hear people talk about not being able to find short-term, furnished living in NYC, and that makes Alexander one of the best kept secrets in NY. I checked in last night and will be here for one month. While it is a little further from my office than I'd like (I work on Park Ave near Grand Central Station), you can't beat $2,000 with no broker fee or deposit in NY. They have great amenities and 500 sq ft is much larger than you'd expect in NY (some hotels are less than 200 sq ft and cost twice as much).

Totally loved it here. Great location. No problems with the staff. No problems with my room. I was HIGHLY surprised at how quiet the place was. The worst thing I can say is that the rooms ARE small, not outrageously so but the big bed(s) will definitely take up most of the space. And the internet crapped out every once in a while. It was annoying while I was binge watching Dr. Who but if I gave it about 20 minutes or so it would always be back.
While I stayed at Hotel Alexander, I was a 21 yr old student doing an internship program away from my home in upstate NY. I never felt scared or uncomfortable in the hotel or in the surrounding area. I would have flipped my lid if I had seen even 1 bug of any kind. I'm glad to say that I had zero 6 or 8 legged roommates.
Bonus: Within 15 min or less (walking), you'll find a well-lit relatively clean subway entrance, an awesome pizza place, a cafe, a grocery store, a frozen yogurt place, and a bunch of other things. Having a grocery store within walking distance is especially important if you're staying for a few months. Carrying a bunch of groceries on the subway is not fun.

Stayed here for 5 weeks. Great transport links and a comfortable place to stay. Would definitely consider going back when I return.
