Got a really great haircut from Wendy for $60. Have been looking for a good haircut in the neighborhood since moving here 4 months ago. With short hair, I get a haircut every 5 weeks so this is this third place I tried. I liked it as much as the $110 haircuts - not better - and while the salon itself was dirty (seriously clean the baseboards), it won points back by being affordable, quick, comfortable AND full of sun with sweet Motown music playing in the background. The music/sun combo was more relaxing than the shampoo/cut

DO NOT GO HERE. Please do not go here. This place is not worth your money, time, and your hair. I got a terrible haircut. I showed the stylist a haircut I wanted. He tried but he failed miserably. I did not ask for crazy hair. It was an easy haircut. This place seemed to be professional because of its high price. Oh man it was exact opposite. People who are thinking about going here, please don't.

Hoshi Coupe's spare surroundings emphasize its core mission, providing an excellent haircut for a fair price. The staff seem like they start the day at Shinjuku station in Tokyo and come to work through some incredibly high speed subway. I wish they would talk more and tell me about what it is like to be a Japanese hipster in NYC, but alas, they are too busy with my hair. The cocktail of NYC and Japan is made more perfect by the portrait of Yoko Ono that looks down on you as your hair is washed.

Dear Masako Hoshi :
While your haircut quality is exceptional and undoubtedly talented, I am writing to inform you my disappointment with your inflexible time attitude in the city of New York.
I have tried to approach twice your store in Astor Place during the past month and you have denied me a service for being delayed for about 10 to 15 minutes. In addition to it, your inflexibility doesn't seem to recapture well the performance of your employees, since most of them were waiting on the back room.
While I understand your rigidity in time schedule - a japanese act that I so much admire, please respect the context of your location and my culture for no longer being in need to access your services, and If you want to survive in a demanding market like New York, I would suggest for you to rethink your service.
