Old fashioned ice cream shop with burgers, fries, onion rings, and grilled cheese as the main draws. Burgers are thin so go for two if your hungry, or supplement the meal with a shake made with their homemade ice cream. In case you're not familiar, this is the location for the final scene of Sopranos. So if you want some nostalgia and a taste of TV history, give it a try. They also sell old time candies at the counter.

From the excellent ice cream and shakes at the counter or booths to the American Traditional fare plus some updated items (My fave is grilled chicken on a French roll with mozzarella and roasted peppers) Holsten's gets my vote as an area original. Did you know that the final scene of The Sopranos was filmed there? The bit of memorabilia is good if you're interested but if no big distraction from all that's good about it. The confectionary side? Not my thing. Candy is not for me.

I used to go to this place for ice cream any time I was working (landscaping) in the bloomfield area.. this was back before the Soprano's scene. I was so excited to be watching the episode.

Great spot in NJ for homemade ice cream! I highly enjoyed my butter pecan hot fudge sundae - served in my very own glass cup. Sitting at the counter is like being in an old diner, but you can pay your respects to James Gandolfini by sitting in the booth made famous by The Sopranos' last episode.
