My new local hangout in the city. A friend invited me and I will definitely be back. Cheap beers and a nice bar atmosphere. Definitely not the place to take a girl on a date, unless she is extremely cool or wants to watch some sports and drink some beers!

First off... superstar service to the brunette waitress who hooked me up with stools one Steelers game while I was on a date!!! As a native Pittsburgher, I can say that Hibernia is the best Pittsburgh sports bar in NYC. Other "Pittsburgh" bars make you compete for sound when other events or sports teams are playing. This is a critical detail for me as I HATE listening to another game while my team is playing. They had a Rangers flag up one time I came in but it has since been removed. If I see it again I'm knocking this rating down to 4-stars ;)

Briefly: I call Hibernia The Happiest Place on Earth because it is my favorite bar and possibly my favorite place that isn't my house. I love it there and I think you will too.
Now I'll be much less brief.
Atmosphere: Hibernia feels like less of a bar and more like a clubhouse. You're only ever as alone as you want to be. if you walk in alone and want to talk you'll almost always find someone willing to chat you up, be it a fellow patron or the awesome bar staff. if you want to be the brooding guy in the corner, you can do that too, as long as you don't ruin the fun for everyone else. Being a dick is generally discouraged.
The noise level is difficult to describe. It's very organic. A lot of nights the jukebox is off and the bartenders run the show off their Macbook. they'll take a request with a smile and may even play it when the time is right, but my advice is to trust them. Especially Eddie. That man has a magical ear for music. That all said, if the crowd is quiet, the night will be quiet. If there's energy in the room, it's incredibly possible a full out dance on bar the bar sing along could break out.
There are 5 TVs and giant screen. Any game you could possibly want to watch can be on a screen minutes after a polite request.
Drink: Fully stocked bar (of course), a good beer selection (both draft and bottle) especially for such a small space, and they have Original Sin Cider. It's not as rare as it used to be, but it's not as common as it should be. It's my favorite cider and I'm damn happy it's at my favorite bar.
The boys know how to mix a delicious drink and if you're looking for a Guinness you'll find a great pint at the Hib.
Food: The menu (What I remember of it because I haven't looked in ages) has your standard variations on things you'd expect to find at a bar. I can say I've enjoyed any food I've been served (or stolen from a friend's plate ) here.
They've got wings. Really good wings that I like a lot. I'm not going to over hype them because everyone has their favorite wing and thinks every other wing is bad, but you'll enjoy the wings.
And the nacho fries. You should get those too.
Looking through for typos and what not, I've noticed this review is almost sickeningly positive. I'm really not the type of person that would write something so glowing unless it was deserved. I promise.
Go to Hibernia. You'll eat, drink, be merry, and drink some more. A lot more.
