Heino's Ski & Cycle

So glad I did my research and made the drive to Heino's for my first pair of boots. I was extremely impressed with the thoroughness and honesty of the entire staff throughout my fitting, as well as their patience and professionalism. I originally had my fitting started by one of the younger staff members who was great and very helpful, but I knew I would be difficult to fit and we ended up with a product I wasn't thrilled with after heat molding. I was beyond impressed that Derek then took over with full admission that the first boots I had fitted and molded were NOT perfect for me. It would have been simpler and easier for everyone to just let it go and I'd walk out the door none the wiser with a pair of $500 boots that didn't fit me properly, but instead Derek took the time to completely redo the fitting process from scratch. He dealt with my fussiness like a champ, spending a good deal of time choosing the perfect fit for me, and we ended up with something I love. It's very very rare to find a staff who is truly dedicated to helping you have the best possible experience, regardless of the time and effort it takes. I worked with Greg as well for my custom insoles and he was equally wonderful, explaining the process step by step. You guys are awesome, and thank you! If you're skeptical, don't hesitate - Heino's is so worth the drive for expert bootfitters who truly care.

My boyfriend and I were in to meet with Greg for custom made foot beds. After Greg worked with both us, he examined the "off the shelf" foot beds that I was already using in my boots. I confirmed that I was not having any foot problems but thought that maybe custom made beds would improve skiing technique. With the shape and flexibility of my foot, Greg advised that the foot beds I was already using were doing a good job and that spending the $xxx wouldn't really make much difference for my performance. I was pleasantly surprised at the honesty and sincerity of Greg and that he wasn't looking to make the sale but rather to give an honest professional opinion to better the sport.

Worked with Greg on a boot-fitting and ski purchase. Great experience. He took the time to take a bunch of measurements and worked with me. He wasn't in a rush to sell me anything, just to get me into what was best for me. His knowledge and care were very evident. I left feeling wayyy more confident in my setup than the last time I bought skis.

They are about 1.5 hour from NYC in NJ. This is the best ski boot shop I have been to. The staff are very patient(without attitude), friendly and professional. I felt like I was talking to a professional rather than a Manhattan sales when i was there buying a new boot(which is exactly what am looking for). They took their time to find me a nice fitting boot with custom stuff for my strangely shaped feet. Very patient professionals and it's not just the guy who was helping me. everyone was very patient and nice to the customers. Not so for the other shop that i use to go to in long island(and now they are closed...I guess why) With one visit I bought a boot that i couldn't find in any shop for 10 years in NYC area(NYC long island shops are the worst). This place never once gave me a negative feeling. After few days of ski I took the boots back for some tuning and they patiently help me fix it (for free). They can charge me twice as much and I would still go back to this place. The best.

I got the recommendation for Surefoot and Heino's at a meetup, and Surefoot's prices and reviews easily kicked them off my list...

So I called Heino's up on the Saturday, and the girl said they're super busy and recommended an appointment. However, she also said that I could try going Sunday when they first open as no appointments are necessary for Sunday.

I decided to make the trip from Flushing to Pequannock (37 miles)... got there too early, waited an hour and a half for the door to open, and about 3 hours to get all the work done (re-mold my boot, liner, and have custom inserts), and despite all that, I'm very glad that I went (and will go again if I need new boots, etc.).

Unlike a local shop I went to in Queens, Greg and the team not only gave good recommendations, explained everything as you progressed, but also did the work with a level of professionalism and courtesy I have not seen anywhere else.

This is NOT a shop where you go in, buy something off the shelf, and walk out in 15 minutes... this is a shop where you take the time to get it right, so you can enjoy your time on the slopes for the whole season.

Based on my own experience, and what I saw of their team helping other customers with different needs, I highly recommend this shop for buying / renting skis and ski boots.

I am super excited to try out the boots this next weekend!
