Heckscher Playground

Great place for exploring and playing. Could use some upkeep and more shade.

This is one of the most famous playgrounds in NYC, so understandably it gets very crowded during Spring-Summer weekends and holidays. On those occasions I prefer to go to the playground at W 72nd Street, or to Ancient Adventure Playground just North of the Met. Those two are hidden gems!

This park is huge and has something for everyone: swings for all ages, three water features, a play structure with water rubbing all through it, a sand area, multiple squishy areas to play games on, something like 10 slides, and two bathrooms per sex I.e. four total bathrooms. It is pretty great year round. By far one of the best playgrounds in the park.

**Note if you come in the morning you are basically beholden to the whims of the staff. They open the gate when they feel it is time for the playground to open not on any reasonable or logical schedule.
