I have to say that the Dr. I see, Dr. Horvath is a wonderful Dr. I have been seeing her for years and she became my son's Dr. as soon as he was old enough to not need a pediatrician.That was many years ago. But since the new owners, several years ago, the place is horrible.
About 2 years ago, while in Wallgreens in Colonia I wasn't feeling well and had my BP checked. They told me to go see my Dr. right away or go to the emergency room it was so high. They also called Health Med. My Dr. was not in and the female owner, who is NOT a Dr., told me to take 2 Norvasc instead of one to hold me over until the next day when I could see Dr. Horvath. She told me not to worry she had told her mother to do that before and it wouldn't hurt me. Not feeling well and being a bit scared I did as she said. When I saw my Dr. she said never to do what I did, especially with any medication that deals with the heart. This woman had no right giving out this medical advice when not being a Dr. herself. That in itself is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I of course did nothing like that but with the treatment I've been receiving lately this may change.
Years ago you used to be able to call for test results after a few days. Now at Health Med you have an office visit, you get your blood taken and then you MUST pay for another visit to get your results even if they are just to hear that everything is ok.
When I go there I always end up paying a little but after my insurance pays. Somewhere between $20 and $25. When you go there if you have any balance, as small as it may be, you can't get past the reception desk. This I can understand. But I received a bill recently for 2 visits. When I went last time I paid for my previous visit. I had to to get past the door. Somehow, because for the first time, I paid cash they lost my payment. This is just not right especially with it being their policy to not let you in with a balance.
I would recommend Dr. Horvath to anyone and everyone. She is pleasant, caring, thorough and takes the time to talk with you and explain things clearly. But I would NOT recommend seeing her at Health Medical Associates.
