This is my new favorite place to go uptown. I never thought I would find a place so classy around 145th St. For those who are offended by this statement - c'mon be real. It's not exactly the classy neighborhood with a mcdonalds and crown fried chicken every 3 blocks.
I am, however, extremely surprised when I enter the bar and feel like I've been transported to some microbrewery in the East Village or LES. The lighting is just right and the TVs act as distractions to those that feel like avoiding eye contact. The beer is cheap for 9% heavy hitters and these are pretty rare to find on draft even if you go to a Gingermans or DBA. The overall atmosphere is friendly and refreshing. I can even picture a fireplace in the corner if it weren't so packed with happy people.
I keep coming here because the people are really friendly. I've always met interesting people when I go for a drink and it's always worked out for the best. The free popcorn is always a good touch, and I don't think the music is too loud because the sounds of laughter and chatter are louder.
If you go for some bar food, you must try the peanut butter jelly burger. It sounds weird, but it's amazeballs.

Exactly what you're looking for in a pub. Good beers, pub food, casual atmosphere. Good for groups, drinks after work.

I've been coming here regularly for about a year and I've always had an excellent time here. It's just overall a great neighborhood spot that you need to experience.
One of my favorite joints in the city, they're know for their burgers, which are delicious. They make thick pub style burgers cooked to whatever temp you like. I also recommend the avocado fries, tater tots, and loaded grilled cheese.
HP also has an excellent selection of craft beer. The taps are constantly rotating to new selections, with a definite preference towards locally sourced brews. Cocktails are great here too.
The decor is rustic and rugged. My favorite interior decorations are the cieling fans, they're super neat. It's a small restaurant which I don't mind, but if your looking for a place with a lot of room this might not be the place for you. It's also quite loud due to its size and the music (which isn't overpowering but you can certainly hear it).
A perfect place for an after work hang out. Definitely on my short list whenever I'm in Harlem or Washington Heights.

My favorite local hangout. Great staff and service. Tried all their Fantastic dishes.
And Perfectly priced. The beer menu is entertainingly delicious. I enjoy the conversation with other patrons, along with the Big Sporting events on the monitors. A little bit of heaven.
