I went here to get a trim, and I specifically asked for someone who knew how to do an undercut on long hair. A male stylist said he could take care of me, so I said, "Great."
During the haircut, I realized he didn't know how to cut women's long hair, or to do an undercut properly. So, I thought I would give my hair a couple of days and return for a touch-up, which I have done before at different salons throughout my life.
My hair is not easy to cut as it is very straight. The stylist left long pieces of hair jutting out and it is generally uneven and choppy. I really needed someone to take a few minutes to fix these problems.
About 10 days later, when I was in the area again (I am not from Long Island), I called the salon and told them what happened, and the receptionist scheduled me to come in for a touch-up with a different stylist. I was very happy with that.
Ten minutes later, the receptionist called me back and said she would have to charge me full price for the touch-up because it had been so long since I had gotten the original cut. I could not help the time frame, as I do not live in the area and explained that to her. She refused to grant me a touch-up and said she would have to charge me full price again. I declined the offer.
Unfortunately for the salon, I am buying a house in the area and am looking for a reliable place to continue my business. I also get facials and other services which this salon could have performed for me as well. I will not return here nor will I recommend this salon to anyone. Is it really that big a deal to touch-up one's work? When I went in for the original cut, no one was in the salon getting any work done. Maybe there's a reason the salon was empty.
