I have to agree with the other reviewer (Steven). My first appointment was with the director of the sleep center, Dr. Fariborz Ashtyani. I was amazed how the doctor was squarely focused on the financial aspect of the test and was not at all concerned with my health concerns.

When I came to this center, I was hoping to find a solution to a serious issue, I was facing, that affected both my personal and professional life. I was having problems with concentration and memory which was causing me a great amount of stress. But instead of addressing my concerns, the doctor seemed speculative and mentioned to me the high costs of the tests. Before he even discussed the diagnostic process he informed me about the fees about $750 for the initial diagnosis. Then he told me because I am under 30, and do not have any other co-morbid diseases. I wouldn't qualify for the test in their lab. I would have to take their take home test (which apparently my dentist offers as well for much cheaper price).

Overall, I felt the doctor was very unprofessional. He seemed like a person who only cared for the money. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This Sleep Center is as unprofessional as can be! As soon as you are a candidate for the sleep study exam - They immediately put FINANCIAL Constraints on you before they even thoroughly check with your insurance company - as to how much the Insurance company will cover! In my case the SLEEP LAB falsely told me that I had met my $500 Diagnostic maximum - and that I would have to pay $700 -UPFRONT OUT OF POCKET AND THEN PAY AN ADDITIONAL BALANCE - as to what type of sleep study I had. This is AFTER they initially told me that if I didn't hit my maximum of diagnostic - I would have to pay a total of $450 - $200 Upfront and then payoff the rest in 3 payments. After they told me I met my Diagnostic Maximum which was $500 - I decided to call my insurance company - myself - to see if what they said the insurance company told them was accurate. Of course - when I called - I found out that the total -Out -Of Pocket maximum I reached was only $96.46. When I then confronted the Director of the Sleep Study - her name is - Quanita (The most rude and obnoxious person I ever spoke to) - told me that what I have to say does not matter! Even after she admitted that the insurance company told her that I had only met $96.46 of my Out Of Pocket - Diagnostic Maximum - which would significantly reduce my out of pocket expense for the sleep study - she said I would still have to shell out a minimum of $600 the day of the sleep study - and then I could possibly get a partial refund if no more claims were submitted to the insurance company - by the time I had my sleep study. I told her that was not right - that I would have to shell out that much money the day of the sleep study - when Insurance is telling her that the majority is covered. She then rushed me off the phone and wouldn't even listen to what I had to say. I would have been more then willing to sign a document - that if any new medical claims come in that showed my diagnostic maximum had increased or had been reached - then she could have charged my credit card the balance, - but she didn't even have the patience or the professionalism to stay on the phone. All she could say to me - is that because I had admitted to her that I had debt - that I was TO MUCH OF A RISK - We'll YES Quanita - I have debt! - That is exactly - WHY I AM TRYING TO KEEP THE COST OF THIS TEST DOWN - AND WHY I HAVE INSURANCE IN THE 1ST PLACE!!!!! The whole IDEA OF HAVING INSURANCE- IS TO BE INSURED - WHICH I AM - AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY TOLD YOU I HAVE NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO REACHING MY DIAGNOSTIC MAXIMUM - WHICH MEANS I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SHELL OUT AN INSANE AMOUNT OF OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSE THE NIGHT OF THE SLEEP STUDY! She is Rude - and ONLY AFTER MONEY AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND WILL EVEN LIE - TO GET PAID MORE MONEY - UPFRONT!!!! - EVERTONE STAY AWAY FROM - THE HACKENSACK SLEEP CENTER - AND MOST OF ALL STAY AWAY FROMTHE DIRECTOR OF THE SLEEP LAB - QUANITA!!! - AN UNPROFESSIONAL MONEY-HUNGRY JERK!!!!!
