Gristedes

Good beer selection, but otherwise overpriced

It's just alright! The prices are a bit higher than they should be, the selection is a bit thinner than most, and inside it is cold in the winter -- but it's a grocery store that gets the job done at both best and worst.

I have always had a good and quick experience at this Gristedes location. The items are well stocked and there is a large selection. It is conveniently located near the entrance of the 1,2,3 subway station (96 street)

Credit card machines are always down. Rude workers

I have repeatedly encountered extremely rude employees at this Gristede's location. The cashiers refuse to empty your shopping basket if you put it on the belt, demand you put the basket in front of the register yourself. They are consistently snappy, as though it is you (the shopper) who is interrupting their leisure. It is clear that management at this location has allowed the union to take their service to the pits. This is coming from someone who previously worked for nearly a decade in grocery and grocery management.

The food, though generally decent (not highest) quality, is quite overpriced -- even by Manhattan standards.
