Greek Taverna - Montclair

Worst Greek food I've ever had. Super small portions. Over cooked the very expensive Chilean sea bass. Greek salad was not fresh. Extremely disappointed!

Food is horrible. Used to be excellent a few years ago. Seemed like it was family run back then. The place looks nice and waitress was nice.

The food was absolutely disgusting. We got an order of mussels and most of them were beyond bad. The foul taste consumed the sauce and ruined the entire plate. The seafood platter was all rubbery. The cuddle fish was not clean and had a funny flavor. I found a little fish head inside one with all the guts still intact. The squid had a strange texture of soft raw and rubbery in the other side. The entire plate had no flavor at all. The octopus leg wasn't bad, but I wasn't sure why it had cinnamon on it. Never had it that way at any Greek place.

I hope this place doesn't ruin people's impression of Greek food if this is their first Greek experience.

Update: Pascal from Greek Taverna has been stalking me and my wife. I left my number on the review card they provided at the restaurant, but that wasn't good enough. Pascal has been looking at my LinkedIn account and somehow found my wife's work number, called up, spoke to her not knowing it was her, and asked for her email address. Still hasn't contacted either of us personally. The only way he could have found out all this information is by using our credit card information. This makes me feel really uncomfortable. Instead of putting so much effort into finding out who I am, why don't you just fix the problems at your restaurant.

This place it is horrible. We went for dinner with my husband on Friday 11/07/2014.
We ordered the mussels and they were all bad and we returned them. Had the manitaria saganaki that was gross and in the end we had the seafood platter was disgusting. The cuttlefish wasn't clean properly and my husband found a fish head inside the cuttlefish. The octopus had cinnamon on top... what the heck is that . The manager didn't bother coming by to check with us. I am Greek and I know Greek food and this place serves garbage. This isn't Greek food. Horrible experience.

The food was excellent with portions enough for two to eat their fill from one entree. The service was phenomenal; our waitress was delightful, responsive, and attentive. The noise level was awful, with an exposed ceiling that reflected every utterance throughout the room.

On last Dec 22 we have a private party at this place, some of my friends and my girlfriend too. The food was very good, I have lavraki with deboned table side, delicious, my girlfriend have lamb giovesti, if I remember right, she was really happy and that was a big plus for me, later we share a cheese cake as dessert. I think that we were a little loud in that room, but you can blame the wine :-). Recommended.
