Great Value Vacations

We booked a 10 day trip to Ireland and everything went very smoothly. The women I spoke to in Customer Service were very friendly and helpful. The hotels were just "okay," but the trip was so reasonable, that we weren't expecting much. In Dublin we stayed at the Citywest Hotel, just outside the city. It was a pleasant walk to the LUAS tram and a quick trip into Dublin, although we would have preferred to stay right in the city. The last night was at Cabra Castle, about 90 minutes north of the airport, so we had to get up REALLY early to make the flight. The castle was lovely and our only regret was that we only spent one night there.

We spent ten nights in Ireland on one of their self-driving packages. They booked us beautiful hotels in cities like Dublin, Limerick, and Galway. I have no complaints about GVV but someone booking with them should understand you will need to get driving atlases and know where you are going BEFORE you start the vacation. We had Rick Steve's guide to Ireland (road signs, driving tips, etc) and a map of each city/destination/hotel along with a complete road atlas to Ireland. This work ahead of time paid off a hundred fold.

This is the absolute worst travel company I have ever worked with. 1) They got the original booking wrong. I paid for the more extensive package, and they gave me the cheaper one. This took forever to resolve. 2) Three days before my trip, I called the hotel, and Great Value had cancelled my trip. They never told me. They just cancelled it. I would have arrived in a foreign country and been stranded. 3) In order to rebook the hotel, Great Value cancelled my international flight. I had paid the air company and extra $300 to upgrade the flight. I lost the $300 because Great Value rebooked the flight without telling me. The customer service were rude and unhelpful. This is the worst company ever.

Don't book with Great Value unless you want to be STRANDED. They canceled our hotel due to some ridiculous clerical error with Groupon, and they didn't even call or email to notify us. We only found out because they had made other mistakes with the reservation, which made us nervous, so my husband called the hotel itself to reconfirm three days before our departure date. Lo and behold, we have no reservation! If my he hadn't called, we would have arrived in Ireland with absolutely nowhere to stay, even though we had paid for it. Stay away from this company. They are not worth the discount.

These guys were great. We booked a trip to Ireland through a Groupon and they were wonderful to work with. Picking the dates on the phone couldn't have been easier, and the additions our travel agent suggested were never a hard sell. We ended up booking a few day excursions as well, and the value for money was spot on. When we arrived, everything ran like clockwork - all excursions, flights, coupons, vouchers and accommodations were spot on. We'd happily travel with them again!
