They did a great job! Dr. Haidy Messih and the dental hygienist Kathy were professional with a great bedside manner.
I was lucky enough to just get insurance that included dental but it was difficult to find a participating dentist that had positive (or any) reviews. After looking around I decided to visit Great Expressions in Maywood since it was close and I had seen a 4/5 star review elsewhere.
When I called the office they confirmed my insurance participated and would cover my visit for a cleaning/check up. They were able to set up an appointment that matched my schedule with little hassle and mailed me the new patient forms so that I can bring them already filled out to my first visit. The receptionist was very kind and helpful with any questions I had.
I made a 6pm appointment on a Wednesday (which was convenient they offer late appointments if you work). When I went I brought my filled out paperwork and insurance card. They double checked that the visit was covered. The waiting room was comfortable enough with News 12 on a flat screen tv hanging on the wall.
Within 15 minutes of arrival the Dental Hygienist Kathy took my into the back where they took x-rays of the sides, bottom and top of my mouth. This was done very very fast.
I was then lead to the dental chair, where each chair/patient area has their own tv. Kathy gave me the remote and said she would be right back, so I watched TV for about 10 minutes. Kathy came back to start the cleaning process but Dr. Messih took over to inspect my mouth. She was thorough in checking each tooth. Sadly I had a few cavities but she assured me it wouldn't be a problem to correct.
Kathy then proceeded with the cleaning process. It wasn't my favorite activity but Kathy is good at what she does and before I knew it the cleaning was over. She recommend I add a fluoride cover to my teeth for an additional $29, I said okay. It is a fluoride covering they brush on and dries. It felt strange and slippery on my teeth, but was painless. Afterwards I was given a toothbrush and some tooth paste. Kathy finished up with my patient records on the computer and said the fluoride would actually be $8 instead of $29.
After the cleaning I was taken to the checkout counter. Luckily I didn't have a co-pay with my insurance and I was told that the fluoride was actually covered so I didn't owe anything for my visit. Yay! :)
I made an appointment to have my cavities filled in and feel fully comfortable with Dr. Messih and Kathy for my next visit.
Follow up: had 2/3 cavities filled in. No pain. Have to go back one more time for last filling.
