Wife and I found this restaurant while walking down 8th Avenue and looking for an Italian restaurant and not wanting to wait 30 mins for a table. Excellent food, but if you like spicy ask for dish to be extra or extra-extra spicy!! Definitely on the list for our next trip to NYC.

This fiery spicy restaurant is a bit unexpected along the blandness 8th Ave row in catering to Chelsea boys. The restaurant was revamped with a more ‘modern’ interior and fine diningesque with table cloth and napkins.
The extensive menu with choices of pig intestines and frog you might only find in Chinatown that might cater more to the Asians than the Chelsea population. The pork soup dumplings are good but skin is slight thicker than the more crafted one you might find. You have to ask for the tea which doesn’t come standard per table. We started with the mung bean noodles in chili sauce. It less noodle but chucks of agar like in a tart chili sauce. The pork dumplings were quite good but the ‘soup’ inside was a bit inconsistent. My friend bit into one where the broth came out like a burst dike. The chicken in chili looks spicy with all the chili peppers but don’t let that scare you. It is all looks. The chicken fried nicely and tender. The peppers added some heat but more in flavor.
Grand Sichuan Eastern is a good pick if not wanting to head to Chinatown for some decent food. The service is much more pleasant and slightly more upscale than you get but the prices seems reasonable.
