I visited the service center to have the upper control arms replaced, and was quoted a price of $300 total for the work. I asked for a QUOTE/ ESTIMATE of what it would cost to install engine mounts. I dropped the car off on a Thursday at 1pm, and was told it would be ready on Friday morning by 10am. It was not ready, and when they called to give me an update while I was at work, they stated that they were having trouble installing the second engine mount. To which I said, "I didn't ask for that to be done; I asked for a quote." The response was, "Well, it's too late, I'm not taking it out. I'll cut you a deal on the labor." Since I was at work, I could not go in-depth into the issue, and said that I did not want the engine mounts installed.
On Saturday afternoon, I got a call that the car was ready. The bill was $900, instead of $300. I stated that I did not want the engine mounts installed, and the response was, "Well, my guys misunderstood what you said; they say the parts and figured they had to be installed." I was livid at this response, and matters were made worse when I stated that I could not afford the repair cost, since the original estimate was for $300, not $900. The owner's response was "Well, you can get a Goodyear card and pay it off over time. We have great rates." I stated again that the engine mounts were not to be installed, and the final recourse was to have them removed, which would take "a couple of days" according to the owner. Looking over the rest of the repair bill, they took the liberty of also doing my car inspection. I stated that I had not agreed to have that done either, and the crew just stared at me and shrugged their shoulders.
I did not want to leave my car at the repair shop any longer, and charged the repair to my credit card. I was disgusted by the entire experience and felt conned by the entire ordeal. The apathetic attitude of the owner left me furious for days, and their casual, "Oh, well, you know, it was just a miscommunication," was not an adequate solution to the situation.
It is my hope that this experience is a warning to others who choose to take their vehicles to Green Acres Tire/ Goodyear. Get everything in writing (even though it didn't help), and scrutinize the final bill. Finding trustworthy mechanics is such a tough challenge, and Goodyear just made that process a whole lot more difficult.

I had to get the tires on my car swapped out. I have summer wheels and wanted to throw on my winter wheels.
All I needed done was unbolting my old tires, and rebolting new ones. No mounting or balancing required.
I was quoted $25 for the service on the phone. I came in, waited the 2 hours it took to get the job done (hey the shop was busy so that's okay).
Before the job started, I was again given an invoice for $25.
After it was said and done, I was told "hey this job is supposed to cost you $10 per tire plus tax. You were given wrong information earlier." So, $45 gone.
I called around to find out how much competitors charge, and sure enough, they charge $25.
This is not my first time to the shop either. I have been a loyal customer, and referred them many clients.
However, this will be my last visit to the shop. I will make sure none of my referrals go there anymore either.
I hope the extra $20 was worth it to the shop. I do not appreciate being taken advantage of.
