I recently attended a beefsteak fundraiser for a local non-profit that was catered by Giresi's. The experience was both good and bad. The food was average. I can't really say I was disappointed by the food. The night started with a pasta dish and waffle fries followed by beefsteak and an ice cream dessert.
The beefsteak itself was average, nothing special. I've been to many beefsteak fundraisers and have a few favorites. Giresi unfortunately is not going to be added to my favorites list.
The biggest problem I had wasn't with the food. I was a little taken back when I found envelopes on every table for waitress tips. I understand the importance of tips in the restaurant industry, but I wasn't eating at a restaurant, I was spending my money to support a local volunteer organization. What really set me off at the conclusion of the dinner is when our table waitress picked up the tip envelope, waved it in front of everyone and asked if everyone had seen the envelope and had contributed. Seriously? You might as well have just gone person to person with a church basket and asked for tips. That was tacky.
If you are looking for a company to host your fundraiser, make sure you do some good research and ask around. I wasn't the only one complaining about the tips issue, but if that doesn't bother you, than consider Giresi's.
