Used to go when it was called Locale. Food has always been good. But actually got a little better.

This restaurant offers something truly unique to the neighborhood, Aperitivo hour. I came in with a group of friends, in the middle of the week for some drinks. We received our delicious cocktails and got complimentary cheese, salumi and olives to snack on. So classy and yet so casual. Great service and attention to detail.

We had a Jack and Jill Shower at Gastroteca in June for our daughter and her fiancee. I can't say enough good things about our experience. The food was spectacular. The service could not have been better. The friendliness and attention from these servers went above and beyond. And the venue was perfect for this event. We were even able to project a slide show on the wall behind the bar. Everyone I dealt with was helpful from the beginning of the process to the end. We can't thank them enough for helping make this such a sweet celebration! And if you go there don't miss the gnocchi and the veal meatballs!

Gastroteca is my favorite restaurant in Astoria. Sitting outside on the quiet street and having a cocktail simply can't be beat. The fresh pastas are great and by far the best in queens, but then again everything on their menu is amazing.

How do they call themselves a gastropub?? That term is used very loosely here. It's not a pub. And the food is awful!!! We had 3 dishes and each was very bland and just bad. The service was good, but it wouldn't hurt to smile a bit. We were served the wrong bottle of water, which was pointed out to the waiter and was stillness charged for the one we asked. Of course they changed that. Nothing was memorable with the exception of the cocktail. The aroncini didn't even have a bit of meat in it but was described to us to be included. Honestly it looked like leftover risotto made into rice balls. The lemon linguini didn't even taste of lemon. Just awful. The new name is not listed on the awning and we were very disappointed to find its not the same place. They are an Italian wannabe restaurant. Spare yourself and go somewhere else.
