This is my new favorite place! Trail riding is a joy here as unlike most New Jersey trails, these are not so ridden with huge rocks. I have gone three times so far and they take me on a different route every time, which is nice for me as well as for the horses. The staff is great, very friendly, knowledgeable and flexible (you don't have to always have an appointment to ride) and anyone can tell that the people who work there not only love what they do but they really love the horses too. This is great place for ANYONE to ride - no matter your ability or interest (English or Western) - they will be able to pick a great horse for you to ride and spend some time with. I have tried other places in New Jersey and this is by far my favorite because of the staff, trails and indoor and outdoor facilities - not to mention all the great events they have for their students. I am adult but they have a lot going on for kids with lessons, shows, trips to rodeos, contests etc. What a great place for a young person to spend some time! I would trust any of them with my own daughter and can't wait till she is old enough to start lessons.

Garret Mountain is full of kind and helpful people, and you always feel welcome. However, the barn itself isn't in the best shape and the indoor ring is really small which makes it hectic to ride in the winter. The trainers are great, though, and they always explain something thoroughly if you need help and you're always prepared before going on to the next level. The horses are great, and it's a beautiful park. (:

To me, Garret mountain is very nice . It does have flaws , though. The indoor ring is very small and over difficult to ride in when winter time comes. But the view and barn its self if amazing. The trainers are very good. The new management is also very good, and are very upbeat and helpful . The grooms and horses are also very nice.
