My friend and I stopped in here on a lovely September Sunday afternoon last year during NYFF; it was one of the few places I wanted to visit during our whirlwind weekend. For me, it was actually less about the perfumes than it was about our experience with Eric Jett. The store is stunning, both modern and warm - but Eric was the real warmth. He gave us a master class in the world of F.M. and of perfume in general with eloquence, wit, and humor. There was no salesperson in that shop.
While Feredic Malle fragrances are unquestinably sophisticated and high-quality, they stretch past what I consider my palette. The overall experience Eric provided - the layered stories behind the perfumes that make them something more - made me appreciate them in a way I never would have otherwise. I can say he is the sole reason I wanted to purchase Portrait of a Lady, which he recommended for me. Fragrances are nostalgic passports to memory and sentiment, and I will forever attach Portrait of a Lady to that wonderful weekend (and Eric's place in it).
I probably sound crazy, but I don't care. I have literally been thinking about leaving a review for almost a year - Eric's card is still in my wallet - and although I didn't get around to it until now, the fact that it was on my mind all this time should tell you what a wonderful experience it was. I hope he's still there when I go back this fall. If you are a serious perfume lover, this is the place to elevate your experience.
