Wow... is all I can say. My experience was almost identical to the guy before me. I dropped off my boots for a simple heel replacement and Frank told me that it would be ready by the end of the week. I ended up going out of town and didn't return to pick up my boots until two weeks after I had initially dropped them off.

When I returned, Frank spent a while digging around his enormous piles of ancient shoes looking for the boots, even asking me to go behind the counter to identify them. When I did, he had done absolutely nothing to the boots... essentially he had completely forgotten about them and they had been sitting on his dirty workstation for two weeks.

When I asked if he would be able to repair them within the hour, he said yes, and to come back in an hour. When I returned, he was polishing another pair of shoes and told me that he wasn't able to get to them... still not even having had touched them. At that point, I just politely asked for my shoes back as I was clearly not going to get any sort of service here. He asked for my ticket stub back, and I hadn't brought it with me so I told him I didn't have it. He then asked me to write my name and address on the back of the other stub, and when I asked him what for, he started getting angry and saying that he needed the ticket stub back. When I repeatedly asked him why, if he hadn't even touched my shoes, he said that maybe they weren't my shoes and I was just coming in to take them. WTF?? I had JUST identified them earlier....??? He got himself extremely worked up, with my just standing there confused... and then snatched my boots off the counter and said he wasn't going to give them to me until I brought my ticket back.

SO, I went back home.. AGAIN, got the damn thing and went back to the store. I politely told him that in the future, he might want to provide better services and to not just forget about people's shoes they drop off and that he shouldn't be treating customers so rudely. Like with the guy below, Frank then lost his s#%& and telling me the same thing, that he didn't need people like me, that he had plenty of customers (maybe back in the 50's, when the store opened...) and that there was the door.

I always try and support local businesses in Sunset Park but this guy is just nuts and has no business running a business like this..... do NOT go here!

Frank (if that is the name of the old man behind the counter) seems like a nice, gentle guy. I dropped off one shoe for a zipper repair. He told me to come back in a few days. I asked if he needed my name or any identifying information as there are no tickets or receipts. He claimed he would remember.

A few days later, he told me that he needed to order a part and that I should return the following week. I returned the following week and the shoe was still not ready. Two weeks later, upon my fourth visit, Frank informed me that the shoe repair was complete. He selected zippered shoes from his collection asking me which was the correct one. He was unable to find my shoe and asked me to return with the other shoe so he could identify it. I showed him a photo of the shoe, but he insisted on me returning home and bringing back the sister shoe so he could identify the repaired shoe that he originally claimed he would remember.

I returned with the shoe. Frank pointed to the matching, repaired shoe on one of his shelves. He claimed that he already showed me the correct shoe before I went back home to retrieve the sister shoe. That was not the case. I stated all of the above reasons as to why he provided me with bad service and why I wouldn't return to his business. Having also witnessed this, I suggested to the couple waiting behind me not to utilize his services. I stated my opinions in a calm manner. Well, Frank totally lost his $#@! and started screaming at me to leave, opining that he didn't need me. On my way out the door, a man who may have been part owner asked me what was wrong. After I explained, he pleaded with me that Frank is old, so I should give him a break. I explained that I'm here for business and not charity.

TLDR; A repair that was supposed to take a few days took two weeks. The repairman misplaced my shoe, made me go home and bring the sister shoe so he could find it, imagined that he had already shown me the shoe in question before he had me return home. Most likely senile.

A great find for anyone with an eye on their pocketbook. The place is a mess, but the cobbler is sweet, attentive, and professional. I am very happy with his work and recommend him highly.
