This is our first time. We live on Van brunt street. The host was attentive and looked after our seating very quickly. Our waitress was very helpful & answered any questions! We both got the American breakfast - good brown toast, smoked bacon, unreal hash brown (except I would like the bacon drained of fat little more as it made my hash brown little soggy). The eggs on menu said 2 eggs anyway you want. I asked for 2 egg whites fried & I got 2 scrambled & omelette style even after the waitress explained I think we got lost in translation & was charged 2 dollars extra. This is not stated anywhere in menu & when I asked the waitress who was lovely she said that it's for the extra work they have to go to in morning to separate the egg yolks?!?! This should be stated in menu or at least when I ask for egg whites only. Hate when bill arrives and not what you think!! Kinda dishonest! For a Sunday I would prefer less noise! Head banging music meant the 4 people beside us were shouting across at each other which affected our conversation & left me with a head ache! Sunday brunch should be chill!! Overall I look forward to going again & saw the taco thing which looked yum!

Fort Defiance is a great little cafe if you want to have a late brunch/lunch even on a weekday! Their special menu serves till 3 pm includes breakfast item and lunch sandwiches!
I am glad that my friend let me slept in... since I don't really want to wake up at 7 am just to have breakfast during my vacation!
The vibe here at Fort Defiance is really laid back and made me felt really at home..
Cheddar Biscuit Egg Sandwich 7 .
House made biscuit with ham, jalapeno jam, and fried egg
The biscuit here is buttery, crumbly and have great texture.
Free wifi?! Just ask for password!
I can definitely hang here for awhile!

I walk in on a nippy January afternoon quite hungry. I take the nearest open table to my right. The bar is peppered with many bearded patrons and so are the surrounding booths. The waitress brings me a menus and asks if I would like a drink. She is beautiful; first check. Second check-read my mind and brought me a perfectly poured sixpoint oyster stout on nitro. I ask what she would recommend for food and without pausing for a breath says the "huevos rancheros." It's 13$ which is expensive but probably the norm for this area of Brooklyn. She brings it out to me and it looks like the devil made it and tastes like heaven. The food melts into my body. Third check.
The place is wonderfully comfortable and the beers are tall. If the other food is anything like the huevos, you would be sorry to miss such a bite.
I'll be back.

I've had shrimp and grits at a lot of places. This includes places in the south. And I can say with absolute certainty that I've had the best shrimp and grits of my life at Fort Defiance. It's odd, but true! Their food is super delicious and if you happen to be in Red Hook, swing on by!
