I took my 84 year old mother to Dr. Hertz who was in distress over a small leg wound that had not healed for 3 months and general leg weakness and fatigue and pain. Tests were made that showed leg blood circulation was down by a large amount. No solutions were offered other than getting lots of exercise and returning in a couple of months. She did and was still given no solutions.
Her primary doctor contacted NY Hospital Weill Cornell and they promptly did an angioplasty, found and cleared blockage near the leg wound, and within days her energy and stamina returned. The wound has healed in a month or so and if we had continued to take Dr.Hertzes non- advice, we fear she might have continued to decline and even lost the foot, which was the fate of a close, very diabetic friend who had highly recommended seeing Dr. Hertz originally, and accompanied us on our first visit to the Dr. The friends case is and was very acute and I have no knowledge of the intricacies of his case.
