Friends Meeting House in Flushing, Queens is a one-of-a-kind historic landmark, community center, and house of worship. Stepping into the three-century-old meetinghouse, with its Medieval Dutch architecture, provides a sense of peace and harmony -- the entire grounds are a beautiful oasis -- in the middle of a dense urban environment. The Quaker Meeting House, which is part of Flushing "Freedom Mile," is the oldest house of worship in New York and has a historic cemetery in the back. For more than 300 years, Quakers have been worshiping here in silent contemplation and have stood witness against religious intolerance, slavery, and injustice. All are welcome every First Day (Sunday) for worship at 11AM and tours at 12PM.
