This is the biggest sh*t hole in Brooklyn. Meat is old & nasty looking. Chicken cutlets smell horrible more often than not- I've had to throw them away on many occasions until I said enough. Avoid this place if you don't wanna lay in bed sick to your stomach cause of repackaged chicken and meat. Their cold cuts are always dry and old. Just don't even bother. Go to c-town or even an Arab Bodega for cold cuts. The integrity of these owners is sad and disgusting to all Brooklyn Italians.

I admire the Asaro family for the upkeep and dedication to my neighborhood. Their staff is very nice and always treat me good. It is one of the few Italian family owned grocers left in our neighborhood. I can rest assure that I will find what I need when cooking my Italian dishes.

Yeah, sure if you want to get sick. That is not the only reason why not to go there-
I was there today July 26 2011 and basically there was a small problem where the manager (one of the owners) heard what was happening and waited until it was too late to try to help. When I called, he really could careless. He has lost my family's business for good.
In short, the their prices are way over priced and the fruits & veggies are basically rotten. It's one of those places you go too if you are stuck and only need a couple of things to get you through. To make a long story short, they have this stupid rule that to buy the pop at $1.89 you must buy $15.00 before tax (use to be $10.00) so I asked for some items to be taken off since the bill was really high and I didn't want to spend that kind of money there when I could buy the same stuff, down the street for a lot less. Anyway the bill was brought down to $19.00 (reasonable) so I realized that I didn't need the coffee filters which should have been at $1.19, instead they charged $1.79, so the kid at the register says the the tax on the filters is going to bring the bill below the $15.00 limit before tax. So I tried to explain to the kid the coffee filters along with the tax would not consititute $5.00. The kid continued to say it would, so to avoid the headache, I said forget it. The manager at that point came over-
I called to explain, the manager said it was a mis-understanding and I explained that I didn't want to get the kid into trouble but putting the coffee filters back with the $0.15 in tax would not bring the bill below $15.00 (1.79 + .15). I explained that I go there often but find some of the prices very expensive and I did not want to spend $30.00 for what I wanted to buy. He was curt and persisted on stating that I left when he came over. At this point, I said that it seemed like he didn't want my business, he didn't dispute so I hung up.
I use to go there for juice, cheese, stuff in a package because to say the store is dirty would be a compliment. The meat fridges stink and they sell expired products cheap. Yeah they disclose this information but I think this is against the law.
Don't go there unless you want to be over charged, deal with curt management and risk getting sick!!

This place has an Italian grandmother in the kitchen cooking food! If you live anywhere close to this place you should go to pick up hot food. They should think about getting seats. The n train goes there if you live in the city.
