Flash Factory NY

TERRIBLE experience. Purchased a ticket for the August 5th event, but the club *never opened*. Seriously. And no person out front explaining things; no sign on the door; no message on FB or the answering machine. NOTHING. Spoke with a fair number of pissed off people who had been expecting a quality night. Hope to get a refund, but DO NOT GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR BUSINESS.

Sunday Night at Flash Factory for The (mostly) weekly party Battle Hymn was amazing. The first thing I noticed was the superb soundsystem, even at the bar area near the entrance which was far from the central dance floor the music was pumping. And very interesting and different from the circuit music that had taken ahold of the gay club scene. As my gaze rose upward to the high ceilings I noticed the insane lighting systems that really accented the stunning beats. I was dazzled and felt like I had entered a magical, special place with untold possibility. Although I moved to NYC in a post-limelight/club kid era, I felt like I had rediscovered this lost culture and that my following sundays will without a doubt be spent dancing among the beautiful mixed crowd.

And boy was the crowd something. I saw friends and aquaintances from all areas of my NY life here. Straight, gay, older, young, old friends, new friends and a hookup from yesterday. Everyone was there and yet the place felt very spacious and there was always room to dance At first I felt intimidated because everyone looked so interesting, but by the end I felt like we wer all one family enjoying this superb party together.

The outfits wer on point, yet thankfully most seeme to be more concerned about having fun than being seen and that to me was a big plus for this club.. People were dancing having fun, chatting, chilling all over the cathedral themed space. Sunday crowds are special more intimate and very friendly. The vibe was love, fun flirty, capricous yet dark, interesting and sexy. Next weekend is the closing week for a few months and I am already planning my outfit. Anything goes from drag to macho to 80s metal rocker, to cher outfit to half naked. So see you on the dancefoor ;)
